Sadly Terry Wombell a respected gardener and grower of chrysanthemums has died at the age of 84.
He was a very active member of Elsecar & District Chrysanthemum and Gardening Society and was treasurer and publicity officer for a number of years.
Chrysanthemums had been Terry's passion for over 55 years. He was known throughout the country for his chrysanthemum growing and gardening, maintaining an allotment at the rear of his house.
He was well respected nationally as a chrysanthemum judge and regularly exhibited with the National Chrysanthemum Society. He was National Champion for Section 2 (medium japs) several times. He was generous with his advice and very supportive to new growers.
Terry will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He leaves his wife of 61 years June, and daughters Tina and Ross, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
